Meet Matt

The organizer that cooks

Growing up in New York City, food was the center of my life. Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches in the morning, pizza literally whenever, and shabbat dinners on Friday night were synonymous with pure happiness. The dinner table was itself a sacred place where we would gather every night in good times and bad. No matter the mood, it was the focal point of our community. After graduating from Tufts University in 2017 with a degree in history and political science, I jumped headfirst into the world of political organizing. In the wake of the 2016 election I wanted to be on the front lines making sure progressive leaders won elections up and down the ballot. I moved to Virginia Beach as an organizer on the governor’s race, worked briefly on Senator Tim Kaine’s reelection, and was a Regional Organizing Director for the Nevada State Democratic Party in Las Vegas. I spent this past year working for Senator Elizabeth Warren in Ames, IA and Denver, CO as an organizer on her presidential campaign. Campaign organizing, at its core, is about creating community through empowerment, working with folks everywhere to make change in their own neighborhoods. In these tumultuous times food and meals have the potential to be grounding forces, allowing us to stay connected and find joy in our daily routine.  I aim to give people useful cooking skills, fun recipes, and the tools to use food as a catalyst for community in their own lives.
